Excerpts:

He arched a brow, waiting for her name.
He liked her curves? She gaped, torn between disbelief and dismay at the mention of her…bumps.
“Jane.” Whoever said her name wasn’t her, because that voice sounded raspy, flustered, and drenched with need.

Aphrodite would look like this woman, all long limbs, swaying lustrous hair, and pouting lips. Jane felt like a heifer at an auction, only good for breeding:
Step right up, share your seed with this cow, and she will birth you many fine sons.

She sprawled, uncaring that she looked like a beached walrus in a summer dress. When dizziness struck, she went horizontal.
“Are you all right?” As the sun haloed Max's golden locks, she thought Gabriel himself had come down from heaven.

As open as Janey was, for her to fall asleep on his bed implied trust.
Then she called for Tom with his amazing lips.
Max scowled, hacking the lettuce with too much enthusiasm. Green bits splattered the board, and he missed slicing his finger by a hair.

“Morning.” Jane hid her face in her cup.
Don’t look at his long legs molded in denim.
Don’t stare at that tight backside.
And do not linger on the smooth toffee of his skin.
No, you cannot lick him.
It’s against the law everywhere to lick people.

“You, in this dress, Janey, there are no words to describe how I feel right now.” His rough voice, the heat pouring off his body, and the slow sweep of his thumb across her chin said all he needed to say.

He opened the door with a sweep of his hand. “The goddess, temptress, seducer of innocent men, queen of the Sea of Words.”
“Seducer of innocent men?” Her red lips twitched into a smile, snatching his breath.
“Am I not innocent?” he asked. “Have you not tempted me, sweetheart?”
She stilled, and the air thickened.
Her eyes darkened, promising something delicious.
“I do have a degree in breast-juggling, but other than that, alas, my ability to tempt is greatly exaggerated.”

He scooped her into his arms.
She squealed, clinging to him until he dumped her onto his bed.
She sprawled across his bed, bare limbs, heaving breasts, peering at him through the tangle of her hair.
“What the hell? Choose the fat girl and fvck her? Is this a reality show? Some sort of bet?”
He scowled. “It’s been six days since I met you. Six long endless days of aching for you.” She gaped. “You’re serious?” “I’m fvck-you-hard serious. We’re dating. You’re my girlfriend, and I don’t want to hear no from you.”

Before she could warn him that chiropractic appointments were expensive, he hoisted her off the ground. She blinked, finding herself standing, her fingers embedded in his massive biceps. Her mouth parted on a “wow.”
She wagged a finger at him. “You can take my chocolate,” she winced, “and my cheese, but if you touch my coffee, I’ll stab you with a spoon.” Max held up a palm. “Fine, coffee is untouchable.”
“Escape?” She narrowed her eyes, but her mouth twitched. “Is this a hostage situation? One where I pay you upfront to kidnap me?” Her gaze traveled the length of him, then, with a husky moan, she said,” Hello, Stockholm syndrome.”

5.0 out of 5 stars What an awesome way to lose sleep

I could not put this book down until I literally fell asleep at 4 am then jumped back on it in the morning. Absolutely loved these believable characters from the beginning and Jane is a hoot! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I love the fact that you write about us women with a little too much love with the unhealthy foods and have a little extra weight on our bodies but that we so much deserve love too. Max and Jane{ey} were the cutest couple with his sister Abby along for all the love and support.

Wonderful read. For all the curvy women who grew up with reticule and teasing, the was a soothing balm. Thank you. Great snark and responses. The talking things out with yourself was the best. I do that and catch myself in a store doing that. Again thank you. Wonderful story.

A wonderfully romantic and funny story that sweeps you off your feet and shows you what true love e should be like. Following Jane and Max is a journey I have loved taking over and over again along with their amazing author Sevannah Storm.

Discussion or book club questions:

Jane hides behind a pen name and her body image insecurities. How do those two things impact her confidence in both her professional and personal life?

Max falls for Jane before realizing she’s the author he admires. How does the hidden identity trope play out in a fresh way here? Were you nervous or excited for the reveal?

Humor is a big part of Jane’s personality. Do you think she uses chaos and quirkiness as a defense mechanism? Where do you see the balance between her authenticity and self-sabotage?

Max has faced multiple failed relationships and public scrutiny. How does his backstory shape the way he approaches love and trust?

The body positivity message is layered. How did you feel about the portrayal of Jane’s weight and her journey toward fitness? Did it feel empowering, problematic, or something in between?

Jane tackles muggers and dives into bushes—literally. Which scene made you laugh the hardest? Do you think her antics help Max fall for her, or drive him mad?

When should someone reveal a big secret in a budding romance? Did Jane wait too long to tell Max who she was? What would you have done?

Max is a swoony cinnamon roll wrapped in gym clothes. How does he challenge or reinforce the stereotype of a fitness guru?

Jane and Max both hide parts of themselves. What moment do you think marked the turning point in their emotional intimacy?

If this book were adapted into a movie, who would you cast as Jane and Max—and why?
