DARK SURVIVOR - Press Release
Tiny, a blind doctor, desperately wants normalcy and a chance to make a difference despite her disability. Yet, she’s turned aside at every job application. In a twist of traumatic events, she lands a position on an ice hauler as the resident medic.
But everything isn’t as it seems. When a crewmate unexpectedly dies, she realizes that her ‘safe’ world holds a den of vipers, but blind and trapped, what can she do?

Nenn’s a Qaldreth male who pays the ultimate price to train with the Ivoyans. Chosen to accompany an Ivoyan servant on a quest to find who was behind the death of the Senate, he’s hopeful for the chance to climb cliffs, explore space, and try this face-latching humans are fond of.
When he meets a purple-haired female named Tiny, her blindness intrigues him as does her need for independence. The Ivoyans can heal her eyes without augmentation, but she’ll have to return with him to Ivoy.
Something he admits he yearns for.
Except, exposing her to the Ivoyans might make her a target for experimentation, discrimination, or revenge—possibly all three.
He must choose what he’s willing to sacrifice: his tribe’s honor, Tiny’s life, or a chance at finding a love mate.
Unless he can convince the Qaldreth Command Council and Tiny that she’s perfect for him. Without starting a rebellion.

Excerpts:
“Can you not see me?” Nenn gathered her hands in his, sending a zing up her arms. He was hot to the touch, and the urge to snuggle against him was a little overwhelming. “Loss of sight is no more where I come from. Allow me to heal you.”
She scowled at the offer. Just like that? Let a stranger operate on her? “With implants?” She shivered. “That’s a no, thank you.”
“I am pleased to have met you, Tiny.” He pinched her chin and angled her head with the gentlest of nudges. “I look forward to learning all there is know about you.”
Then he was gone, taking his volcanic touch and smell with him. She shuddered, sucked in a sharp breath, but didn’t move.
A melodic croon snapped his gaze ahead. Over Drafe’s shoulder, Nenn caught a flash of pale purple—the color of russmar in spring. The delicate curve of a cheek led his gaze to a pointy chin on a short human female. Something squeezed his chest. Breathing became irrelevant.
“Computer, direct me to Tiny.” He prayed to Osnir the ship heard him.
Lights flickered in the direction he needed to go. Some levels looked familiar, but he didn’t take the time to confirm this. Tiny needed him. How could anyone hurt such a joyful female? He gritted his teeth and hurried, desperate to make it in time. To save her. Everything in him, including his symbiotes, urged him on.
She ventured lower, trailing her fingers over his right pec. “Your…” She gasped and repeated the motion on his left pec. “Where are your nipples?”
He couldn’t help himself and glanced at her breasts filling her tunic. “Males do not nurse babes.”
She gaped. “Fascinating and true. I’m sad for you; it’s such an erogenous zone for humans.”
“Good to know.” He swallowed past the lump in his throat and gripped the med-dev tighter to calm his trembling hands.
He massaged her scalp, checking for bumps he might have missed.
A poor excuse indeed when the med-dev would have listed a ‘hidden’ head wound. But touching her… There was nothing like it. No experience he could compare it too. Drawing on his dwindling control, he scooped up the med-dev and ran it over her eyes again. He had all he needed to know, but he didn’t want this intimate session to end.
Nenn grabbed her hips and swung her, pinning her to his body.
She gasped and clung to him, her mind blank.
“There is debris on the floor,” he said, his breath hot against her temple.
Beneath her fingers was solid muscle. Red hair and eyes? She liked the sound of that. And the texture of his skin was a mixture of warm suede and velvet. How could he be walking around shirtless in cold space? The thomp-thomp of his boots on the grated flooring said he wasn’t fully naked, but still. While drawing in deep breaths to calm her erratic heartbeat, she pressed her temple to his chest. His scent filled her nose—sunbaked rock and metal.

This book was a slow start for me. I am thankful I kept going. The world-building was great and the characters unique and diverse. It's a creative and unusual take on an alien romance. I enjoyed it.
