A slow smile curved his delicious mouth and sent her heart into apoplexy. She pinned the mug to her chest, hoping to calm the erratic pounding of her heart and an influx of suicidal butterflies consuming her insides. Biting her bottom lip kept the gasp trapped in her throat.
With her scent surrounding him and her luscious backside on his knee, he forced himself to look at her. Her gray eyes were wide in her small face. Dark blonde eyebrows rose with concern but not fear. He liked that she didn’t fear him. Her tiny nose tapered to full lips and a pointy chin. Stubborn. Riotous dark blonde curls tumbled around her. Untamed.
He lifted her off her feet, crushing her to his chest. She was light, her weight negligible. His armor was able to resist blades and Gika acid, but he imagined he could sense the softness of her breasts.
A wicked smile warmed her eyes and shot darts of heat to his groin. He groaned, succumbed to the compulsion, and slashed his mouth across hers, diving his tongue between her lips. Oh, the taste of her. He’d known kissing her would be this addictive, so hot and exotic. He shuddered, tilting his head to deepen the kiss when she dug her fingers in his hair.
His kiss was brutal and demanding, with swipes and delves of his tongue as he learned the sweet crevices of her mouth. Her gasps and moans were music to his ears, rivaling his precious Beethoven. Her fingernails grazing his neck, stroking his hair, and tugging on his braid splintered what control he had.
He jerked to a halt, not expecting to find his woman n@ked and aiming a weapon at the enemy. The image would remain with him for an eternity. His breath caught. He had never seen anyone so beautiful.

Izzy was a revelation! Her personality was huge while she was tiny. Pitting her against adversity showed how loyal and creative she was. The ice cream parlor scene with the child made me laugh. With her you must expect the unexpected. I loved the ending.

I started with book 1, got into 5 chapters... then bought the whole series! Very well plotted, well written and extremely enjoyable.
